While whiling away the hours wistfully awaiting when we can travel once again, a recent property review of The Ritz-Carlton Los Angeles has us excited to return to the hospitality industry when the time is right. Until then, we at JustLuxe hope you enjoy this property review to whet your appetite for travel post-Covid-19.

City hotels can be tricky: you don’t want to feel like an extension of a conference and you also don’t want to feel like you’re not close enough to anything. Often city hotels are disconnected from lively downtown offerings or feel cold and unwelcoming, cookie-cutter and unimaginative. Not so for The Ritz-Carlton Los Angeles which affords guests not only luxury comforts, accommodations, dining and activity, but adjacent to notable restaurants, venues, nightlife and cultural spots.

Club Level access is essential at this property, the views alone and the renowned Ritz-Carlton service make for an excellent city stay at this hotel. Snacks throughout the day and a lounge setting at this recently renovated location are worth the extra expense. Large for a Ritz-Carlton Club Level lounge, the comfortable salon has intimate nooks for guests to enjoy a quiet conversation and a glass of bubbling Prosecco, or couch configurations for larger groups or families to munch on snacks or indulge in a cappuccino.

Nods to art deco are found throughout the hotel, the backlit headboards and chic lighting fixtures add a little extra, yet tasteful, flair to the property. Deco elements and scones in the hallways harken to a newfound approach to days of LA’s famed history. A pool terrace on the 26thfloor with boxwood hedges, cozy cabanas, navy and steel lounge furniture, and rooftop bar is an idyllic place to while away an afternoon. Panoramic views of downtown LA, Hollywood Hills and off in the distance, the shoreline can be appreciated from the pool terrace vantage point.

WP24 by Wolfgang Puck encompasses both the dining room and Nest at WP24 lounge area. The best people watching at the Nest can be found at the bar before a Lakers game at the adjacent Staples Center, when celebrities stop by for a drink or snack on dim sum before heading to the court to cheer on their favorite team. A favorite of ours was the Bao Buns with BBQ glazed pork belly, cucumber and scallion as well as the Chinese Crystal Dumplings with King Crab, shrimp, pork belly, and a spicy Chinese mustard.

To feel like Californian royalty, head to the spa before stepping out on the town; a Ultimate Champagne Manicure and Red Carpet Radiance facial will have you Paparazzi-ready. The sleek white space is relaxing and refined, artfully festooned with a variety of textures with a monochromatic motif.

The Ritz-Carlton Los Angeles is an artful stay in the City of Angels. Renovated rooms, beautiful public spaces, and superb dining experiences are all found at this Forbes Four-Star, AAA Four-Diamond property. Setting the luxury tone for the area when it opened in 2010, this hotel has definitely still “got it” and keeps pace with consistent development and care to details.
