The Original Fat Sandwich Is Loaded With French Fries And Cheeseburgers

Food & Drink
Every state has its go-to sandwich, including New Jersey. Many people will say the pork roll egg and cheese is the first to come to mind, but for Rutgers University students, it’s all about the Fat Sandwich. The Fat Sandwich is an overloaded sub, stuffed to capacity with a mix of fried ingredients and condiments. It debuted in the late ’70s and has since become a national phenomenon. The original Fat Sandwich, filled with two cheeseburgers, french fries, ketchup, mayo, and lettuce, is still served at RUHungry? in New Brunswick today, along with over 10 other “fat” varieties.
