Originally opened in 1888, the legendary Hotel del Coronado has reached another milestone in its $400 million Master Plan reimagination with the completion of its new Spa & Salon at The Del. Along with renovations throughout the hotel from its refreshed Cabana guest rooms to its new and reimagined culinary concepts including Serea, Sun Deck and Babcock & Story and an expansive outdoor meeting space titled Vista Terrace, the spa debuted in October and now has reopened back open to the public.

Hotel del Coronado partnered with Miami-based architecture firm Gonzalez Architects on the spa transformation and presents a fun, old-Hollywood, Marilyn Monroe-inspired theme that pays tribute to the filming of “Some Like It Hot” on property. “We thoughtfully curated the transformation of the spa and are always discovering ways to create spaces that will enhance our guest experience and inspire them to keep visiting us,” said Spa & Salon Director Michelle Frye.

Along with giving guests and local residents a truly top-notch spa to enjoy, the focus was to highlight the idyllic San Diego climate and offer the resort’s distinct sense of place. It was to ensure that The Del’s distinct architectural style and charm was preserved with a distinct color palette of gray, pink and green. Evoking a feeling of modern relaxation while keeping the historic value of The Del, the coastal spa provides a sanctuary that mirrors the tranquility and healing power of the adjacent sea.

Providing a path to wellness from head to toe, the 18 treatment room spa presents a refreshing array of offerings, from its signature Seaweed Leaf Wrap to the calming Restorative Ocean Facial. Other spa services available to guests are its vanishing-edge pool on the outdoor co-ed spa terrace, new tranquil relaxation lounges as well as expanded men’s and women’s locker rooms with marble steam rooms and jacuzzis. Furthermore, the dedicated salon offers finishing touches with shampoo and blowout options and an exclusive partnership with Eufora, as well as make-up application and nail services.
