This Los Angeles Restaurant Is Serving Up A $2000 Hamburger

Food & Drink

Since opening in late 2020, Adrift Burger Bar in Venice Beach has proven itself as one of LA’s hippest new hamburger destinations…In a city known for hip burger destinations. It doesn’t hurt to have Michelin-starred chef David Myers behind the helm. Buzz is also bolstered, no doubt, by a reasonably priced lunch menu—with dishes ranging from $8 to $12. But for his latest offering, Myers is going in a completely opposite direction: a $2000 preparation served in a $200,000 luxury vehicle.

From March 15th thru April 15th, Adrift is partnering with Beverly Hills Car Rental to feature a “Burgers & Bentley” promotion. For the culinary component you’ll feast your eyes, and face, on an opulent display of premium ground beef topped with caviar, edible gold leaf, and truffle cheese. But the key for luxury auto-lovers will be the serving platter. Namely: a 2021 Bentley GT, which is yours to drive for an entire day.

A portion of proceeds will benefit the food programs of Covenant House California, a non-profit that helps youth who are experiencing homelessness.

“We are thrilled to be a part of such a dynamic partnership that gives back and provides Angelenos with an over-the-top experience that many of us have been missing over the last year,” says chef and restaurateur David Myers. “This collaboration is the perfect mix of comfort meets indulgence, and there’s really no better way to indulge in a gold wrapped burger than while driving a Bentley.”

Around these parts, Myers is something of a legend when it comes to the local delicacy. A dozen years ago he began crafting his eye-popping hamburger at Comme Ça—a West Hollywood brasserie which has long since shuttered. Today it’s reimagined at his fast casual concept as the DM Burger, served with aged cheddar and special sauce between brioche for just under $12. It pairs perfectly alongside a trio of artfully-rendered gourmet milkshakes (the matcha and white chocolate, is a standout).

To secure the Burgers & Bentleys package, you’ll need to book at least 24 hours in advance by calling (310) 956-0500. Valid driver’s license and insurance are prerequisites as well. Alternatively, the so-called “Bentley Burger” will be available à la carte for the relative bargain of $250. Adrift will also be adding a series of limited-time luxe-ups to their everyday items—should you desire just caviar without gold leaf, for example.

But no matter when you arrive—or what vehicle you pull up in—the eatery aims to please in a decidedly more approachable array of customizable add-ons, such as spiced jams, fried mushrooms, or plant-based patties. There’s also an optional dollar upcharge to support local charity, demonstrating that Myers’ commitment to the community extends far beyond limited time promotions.
