The best accommodation in Madonna di Campiglio

Thanks to the relatively recent construction of a tunnel bypass, Madonna di Campiglio’s village is virtually car‑free and has considerable traditional charm, with elegant buildings dating back to the 19th century. 

There are none of the hyper-chalets that draw wealthy visitors to the likes of Val d’Isère and Courchevel in France; instead there is a range of hotels where prices even at the top end are far from extortionate. This is a world‑class resort at an affordable cost.

A comfortable hotel 450m from the slopes, Hotel Italo is family run and friendly. The bedrooms are simple but comfortable, and the hotel is opposite the bus stop. It has a bar, lounge and dining room, plus a sunny terrace.

A family-run hotel close to the Pradalago lift in the centre of Madonna, Garni Arnica is also close to the shops and restaurants. Bedrooms feature lots of wood for a modern Alpine feel, and there’s a small wellness area with sauna, hot tub and Turkish bath. Breakfast is served in the Arnica Café, open all day to non-residents too.

A family‑run hotel in a secluded position, Hotel Alpen Vidi is a two-minute walk from the Canalone Miramonti slalom stadium in the centre of town. It has a games room, sauna and steam room, as well as a highly acclaimed restaurant serving typical local Trentino cuisine.

A four-star boutique hotel and spa, each of DV Chalet’s 20 rooms are individually designed in a modern style with plenty of attention to detail. There’s a swimming pool and a Thalasso Spa centre with walls of Himalayan salt and cascades of Dead Sea salts.

A mere 10m away from the Spinale gondola, the Oberosler Design Hotel couldn’t be more convenient. Each of its contemporary styled rooms is differently themed, and the in-house Three Senses restaurant serves Trentino cuisine. There’s also a spa and swimming pool.

Owned by the Maffei family for more than a century, the Hermitage Biohotel is just outside the town centre – the hotel offers a shuttle service. It’s decorated with lots of wood and stone, and has a spa with a pool. The Michelin-starred kitchen is presided over by chef Giovanni d’Alitta, who uses lots of herbs sourced from the local pastures and woodland in his dishes.

In a quiet position at the edge of the woods, the five-star Hotel Chalet del Sogno is run by the friendly team of Domenico and Miriam Schiavon, and heated geothermally. It’s also built only using natural materials, so rooms are naturally wood scented, and they feature wood‑burning stoves. The wellness centre, Oasi di Sogno, has a swimming pool with water bikes and underwater massage jets, plus a vapour-hay biosauna, a Turkish bath and a Finnish sauna.
