New year, new you, new food. That is, especially if you’re taking Sunday off and ringing in the new year with an indulgent meal. There’s no reason to kick of 2023 with dirty dishes, so leave it to the pros who are making special New Year’s Day Meal in New York City. Here’s where to dine for brunch and dinner.

Tsuta

Warm up and cure that post-midnight hangover at the New York outpost of the famed Tokyo ramen spot to first garner a Michelin star. This Dumbo location offers five ramens to choose from including the signature The Original Truffle Shoyu Soba (soy sauce broth) made with custom-brewed shoyu and finished with Kurobuta pork chashu and black truffle, and The Original Truffle Shio Soba (light salt broth) with dashi base of Okinawa sea salt, Mongolian rock salt, white truffle oil, and toppings like red onion, green olive sauce, spearmint, along with elevated versions of white leek, bamboo shoots, and pork chashu made with Spanish Iberico pork. Sake, beer and wine is available too. Open on New Year’s Day 12pm-3:30pm and 4:30pm-8pm

Filé Gumbo Bar

On January 1, 2023, Chef Eric McCree and his team will launch a NOLA-inspired weekend Jazz Brunch with bottomless drinks, including the classic Creamy Milk Punch, Southern dishes, and live music performed by a rotating list of local Jazz performers. From 11:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. , enjoy shrimp and grits, chicken and made-to-order beignets, a French omelette with crab, and much more as the jazz band roves through the TriBeca dining room.

Figlia

Astoria’s newest Italian restaurant, Figlia, offers wood-fired Neo-Neapolitan pizza and rustic Italian fare in a cozy setting. Open for dinner on New Year’s Day from 5 – 10 p.m., Figlia is the perfect spot to enjoy a relaxed evening with a glass of wine and a pie. Pizzas include Mortadella with pickled fresno peppers, pistachio, fior di latte, grana padano; Maitake Mushrooms with mozzarella, caciocavallo, pickled shallots, thyme; Nduja & Burrata with crushed tomato, roasted onions, garlic, basil, Quattro Formaggi with mozzarella, grana, fontal (fontina style family), gorgonzola and caramelized onions; Burrata & Pomodoro with heirloom cherry tomatoes, garlic confit, oregano; Arugula & Speck with San Marzano tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, grana; and classic Margherita San Marzano tomatoes, Jersey Girl mozzarella and basil. Housemade pastas include Radiatore Con Salsiccia with Niman Ranch Italian sausage and rapini pesto; Rigatoni Bolognese with a veal and pork ragu; and Pappardelle with braised leg of lamb, tomato and parmigiano, among other dishes.

Loreley Beer Garden

Keep your New Year’s party going on the Lower East Side with brunch from 12pm –4pm, happy hour 7pm-10pm, and dinner 4pm-11pm. Brunch will feature Eggs Benedict on crispy house potato pancakes; Eggs Royale with smoked salmon, poached eggs and hollandaise sauce over potato pancakes; Chicken Schnitzel & Waffles; Buttermilk Pancakes with fresh berries, baked-to-order Cinnamon Rolls drizzled with cream cheese icing, and more. The extensive dinner menu of beer-friendly dishes features giant pretzels paired with warm beer cheese dip; grilled Sausage Party platters; schnitzels, cheesy spaetzle with bacon; burgers and more. Guests can enjoy the winter wonderland décor indoors or heated outdoor garden and cozy up with their cold weather drinks such as the Bourbon Black & White Hot Chocolate, Spiked Eggnog with whipped cream, and Hot Bourbon Apple Cider. José Andres’s Mercado Little Spain

On New Year’s Day, stop by one of Mercado Little Spain’s restaurants for brunch with special menu items to kick off the new year. Leña, where nearly everything is cooked over live fire, will feature huevos revueltos con setas a la brasa y morcilla (scrambled eggs with roasted seasonal mushrooms and morcilla sausage, $25) and tortilla de patatas con Caviar (Spanish potato and onions omelet served with caviar, $35). Spanish Diner, an Iberian take on the classic American all-day restaurant, will offer Ibérico Benedict and a Spanish omelette sandwich. And La Barra, a tapas bar, will feature an open-face tortilla with potato chips and caviar, and a truffle Spanish cheese sandwich.

NoMo Kitchen

The Soho restaurant is hosting a a New Year’s Day Hangover Brunch complete with free mimosas for pajama-clad diners (stay overnight at the NoMo SoHo Hotel for easy entry). Hangover helpers will include lemon ricotta pancakes and SoHo burger complete with a fried egg, plus unique twists on classic dishes such as the brisket benny: slow-cooked brisket, peppers, onions and a spicy hollandaise on an English muffin. Cocktails will also be served. Reservations can be made via Resy.
