Actress, producer, director, and activist Eva Longoria, probably best known as Gabrielle Solis in Desperate Housewives, will be starring in a new role.

Longoria will serve as a virtual “culinary tour guide” on the new CNN Original Series, Eva Longoria: Searching for Mexico. The six-episode series premieres at 10 PM ET/PT on Sunday, March 26.

As the show’s host and executive producer, Longoria will explore the culinary riches of Yucatan, Mexico City, Oaxaca, Nuevo Leon, Jalisco, and Vera Cruz. The series promises to offer armchair travelers and food lovers a glimpse of Mexico’s diverse and vibrant gastronomy, culture, and landscapes. Born and bred in south Texas, Longoria is of Mexican-American heritage.

“I am so excited for viewers to tune in and see firsthand what I love so much about Mexico—the food, people, the cultures,” said Longoria in a CNN press release announcing the show. “The journey allowed me to further appreciate and fall in love with my roots and I feel so honored that CNN entrusted me with this unforgettable, once in a lifetime, experience.”

I’m exploring Mexico to see how the people, their lands and their past have shaped culinary traditions as diverse as its 32 states,” Longoria explains in the show’s recently-released trailer.

Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy (2021-2022) won the hearts of Italophiles and food lovers as the talented heartthrob carved a new niche in food/travel series. It served as a prototype for showcasing the culinary treasures of a single country.

The show, a highly successful “fan favorite” during the pandemic, was canceled after only two seasons when CNN scaled back original programming to cut costs. However, Tucci will be collaborating with Longoria and the network on this new spinoff, serving as an Executive Producer along with RAW Media Network.

With the launch of Searching for Mexico, CNN is banking on the insatiable appetite of travel- and food-centric viewers who are always interested in exploring the culinary culture of different parts of the world.

Please note that while the series will premiere on Sunday, March 26 at 10pm ET/PT, it will regularly air Sundays at 9pm ET/PT on CNN.
