The Chapman’s Challenge pays homage to the legendary British Colonel Freddy Spencer Chapman, who accomplished the extraordinary feat of crossing enemy lines and swimming across Emerald Bay to safety after evading the Japanese army for over three years. This event serves as a testament to his indomitable spirit and represents the triumph of the human will.
As a prestigious event in the sporting calendar, The Chapman’s Challenge attracts up to 70 participants who will compete in a thrilling race of endurance and determination. The race consists of a 3.8km road run around the island, a 2.4km trek through the pristine rainforest, and a 1km swim in the azure waters of Emerald Bay, culminating at the iconic Chapman’s Bar.
In the evening, participants will come together at Chapman’s Bar to celebrate their achievements with cocktails, a sumptuous barbeque dinner, and the prestigious prize-giving ceremony. The top five finishers’ times will be immortalized on a scoreboard, and the top three racers in each category will be rewarded with an extraordinary stay at luxurious properties within the globally acclaimed YTL Hotels portfolio.
