Cambria Portland Downtown – Old Port has been making waves since it debuted in the east end of Portland in the Old Port, which has a rich foundry and shipbuilding history.
The six-story boutique hotel, which opened last fall, features 102 rooms that range in size from standard rooms to upgraded suites. The property does also have some pet-friendly rooms so be sure to let them know you will be bringing your four-legged friend with you before your visit.
Located next to Shipyard Brewing Company in Portland’s Old Port section, the busy downtown hotel features lots of modern amenities. Friendly valet attendants greet guests and show them the elevator to take to the fourth floor to check-in.

Upon check-in, front desk attendants ask guests whether they would like to receive room service during their stay. Their preference is apparently then noted in their profile.
There is a small area next to the reception desk where essential snacks and drinks are available for purchase.
Each afternoon, complimentary cookies are available to guests in the lobby area.

The hotel offers complimentary wifi for guests. Tech-friendly rooms feature Bluetooth mirrors in the spa-inspired bathroom.
Our spacious pet-friendly room had a king bed, large desk, and coffee station area. There was also a lounger near the window designed for relaxing.
A large mural spans the wall behind the bed paying homage to the location’s shipbuilding history.

Breakfast and dinner are served daily at the hotel’s in-house restaurant, ALTO Terrace Bar + Kitchen.
Located on the fourth floor of the hotel, the industrial-chic space boasts an enormous sliding barn door that leads to a smaller room available for private events.

Be sure to try the local Maine mussels that arrived in a tasty tomato, chorizo, shallot, wine and garlic broth. For main events, the pan seared scallops sitting atop a creamy risotto with asparagus tips, blistered tomatoes and shaved parmesan was a hearty portion. The grilled swordfish steak was prepared simply with lobster and herb compound butter served with rice pilaf and haricot verts.
Portland is an entirely walkable city that is easy to explore on your own. Start or finish off your visit here by checking out the Shipyard Brewing Company located adjacent to the hotel. From classics like American Pale Ale to seasonal favorites (think Summer and Pumpkinhead Ales), they offer a brew for every taste bud.
Cambria Portland Downtown – Old Port is located at 25 Hancock Street in Portland, Maine.
