MUST DO in MADEIRA – Monte Tobogganing. #Madeira #Portugal #LonelyPlanet

Videos
The Monte Toboggans Sledges on the Portuguese island of Madeira first began as “downhill” public transportation by the local residents who wanted to travel quickly from the village of Monte to the city of Funchal. This downhill ride reaches up to 23 miles an hour (woah 🤯) and is steered by chauffeurs dressed in white with straw hats who wear special rubber-soled shoes that help steer and brake the sled.
