Sam moved to South Korea and it made her really think about being Asian-American: “I may not be Korean, but because I’m Chinese, I blended in enough that I was part of the majority and suddenly experiencing all sorts of comforts I’d never had before. It really made me reflect on privilege, ethnicity vs. nationality and, in a weird way, made me feel even more American than I had growing up in Pennsylvania.”
