W Algarve’s Luxe New Suite Is Perfect For Foodie Retreats And Winter Sun

Food & Drink

After just one year in business, the W Algarve has fast become the kind of hotel guests never want to leave.

While, on one side of its enormous pool, W Residences mean a lucky few genuinely don’t have to leave, the hotel’s new Extreme WOW suite has popped up as something of an in-between.

And with room types denoted as everything from ‘Wonderful’ to ‘Fabulous’ and ‘Spectacular’ to ‘WOW’, you know they’re not messing around.

The Extreme WOW suite goes beyond expectations. Though it’s technically a one-bedroom suite, the space is adorned with an enormous king bedroom (with jacuzzi bathtub), a panoramic rooftop deck (with a private pool), an opulent built-to-fit lounge and bar area (natch), walk-in closet, DJ booth, balcony, and more.

Of course, as a foodie, the 24-hour room service is of the utmost importance. The W Insiders–arguably the best concierge service in the world–are also renowned for knowing how to treat their food and drink-loving guests right, whether they’re leaving the room or not (“Whatever/Whenever” is written into W Hotels’ DNA, after all).

If you do feel like you want to leave the room at any point, obviously, the hotel has much more on offer.

The culinary landscape at W Algarve is something else. From fresh regional delights at Market Kitchen to the award-winning Italian cuisine of Paper Moon, every palate is catered to.

Nestled within the resort’s ground floor, Market Kitchen is not only the place to go for all-day dining, but home to one of the best–and most culturally-inclusive–breakfasts. We’re talking locally-sourced breakfasts to order, mini pastel de nata, sparkling wine and fresh orange juice for mimosas, et al.

For lovers of Italian cuisine, the widely-acclaimed Paper Moon, a sister to the original Milanese restaurant, is a spot to once again savor local ingredients–albeit in more fusion-forward culinary styles.

Perched atop the hotel, en route to Paper Moon, the Sea Sky rooftop bar boasts incredible views of the golden bay of Armação de Pera, and makes for an ideal setting for pre- or post-dinner drinks.

Naturally, most guests wile away their evenings at the W Lounge with fresh petiscos and an eclectic drinks menu leaning heavily on Portuguese tradition and ingredients. In fact, all wines at the bar have been exclusively crafted by Portugal’s leading female winemakers.

As one of the only European spots where fall and winter sun still beckons, W Algarve stands out as a paradisiacal escape in any season. Even if you don’t leave the suite.
